Dear Hillsborough County Property Owners,

Since becoming your Hillsborough County Property Appraiser in 2013, my office has made it a priority to provide accurate and up-to-date information regarding real estate property in Hillsborough County. Recently, the Hillsborough County School Board approved a referendum for the November ballot to ask voters to approve an additional tax of $1 for every $1,000 in assessed taxable property value.

As a result, we anticipate many property owners will have questions about how this school board referendum could affect their property taxes. It's important to note, the Hillsborough County Property Appraisers office does not raise or lower your taxes. The role of the Property Appraiser is to assess all properties within the county as of Jan. 1 of each year to determine their market value and prepare the tax roll. This tax roll must then receive final approval from the Florida Department of Revenue.

In order to allow you to make an informed decision of the potential impact this school board referendum could have on your property taxes when you cast your ballot this fall, we have created this estimator.
